What is Tomigaia?

Tomigaia Inc is a privately held US corporation with a very specific mission and focus. Cyrus Shaoul founded Tomigaia Inc. March 2001 in New York City.

Where did the name come from? The name came to Cyrus while he was walking from work to his home in Tomigaya. Located in Shibuya Ward, Tokyo, this town's name is pronounced "Toe-Mee-Guy-Yah", which could be translated into English as "Plentiful Valley" or "Valley of Plenty".

(The character "tomi", also pronounced "fu" or "to", denotes prosperity, enrichment or abundance. "Ya" means valley.)

Cyrus had lived in Tomigaya for over 10 years (3 years in high school and 7 years working). He decided to name his latest venture after the town, with a small change in the spelling: GAIA is an ancient Greek word meaning "goddess of the ground" or "mother earth". Cyrus' creative spelling of the word, "Tomigaia" has changed the meaning from "Plentiful Valley" to "Abundant, Prosperous World".

Tomigaia Inc. is bringing together Western and Japanese business, and creating abundant, prosperous relationships on a global scale.

In 2003, Tomigaia Inc. relocated to Edmonton, Alberta, and continues to serve its clients around the world.
